Caramelized Onion Dip

Caramelized Onion Dip

Football season is upon us. Even Oliver is ready. Don’t ask me how he became a Packers fan…that would have to do with Brandon. It’s all Vikings for me.

In my world, football season means lots of snack ideas are a must for all of the gatherings that go hand-in-hand with watching the games. This year, we are hosting a group of guys for a fantasy football draft. Chips and dip are a must. Instead of store bought dip, I opted to try to make my own. I am no food snob…if I need a snack, I will definitely eat that delicious french onion dip that you find by the sour cream. However, when I am hosting, I like to make as many things homemade as I can.

Start by sauteing chopped onion and garlic in oil and butter.

Keep cooking them on low until they are caramelized. This can around 30 minutes. Once the onions are caramelized, add Worcestershire sauce and seasonings.

Remove the onions from the heat and let cool. Combine softened cream cheese with yogurt using a hand mixer. When it is a smooth, combined mixture, stir in the onions.

Refrigerate until it’s time to serve. Serve with thick cut or ripple potato chips.

Thank you, Rocky! Good to know…it is not listed on the brand I use, nor any other ingredients that contain gluten to my knowledge.
