Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award
I am so honored and excited to say that I was nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award by Nicole from the blog simplysweetlyveggie. Her blog is filled with delicious, healthy food and tips on how to be ethical in our food choices and consumption. You definitely need to check it out!
As a part of accepting this award, simplysweetlyveggie sent me a list of questions to respond to. My Q & A portion is below.
In one word, how would you like your readers to describe your blog?
Helpful…or delicious…I am bad at choosing just one.
Which is your most favorite among your blog posts? Why?
It is hard to choose, but one of my all-time favorites is my Rhubarb Coffee Cake. This recipe took a lot of trials and patience to get right, but the end result is so yummy!! It uses my favorite cake mix from Beyond the Grain and it has some components that remind me of a coffee cake that my mom is known for making.
What/Who inspires most of your blog posts?
The desire to always try new foods and discover ways to make gluten free cooking easy and accessible to everyone.
What do you aspire to accomplish this year?
I want to complete my Masters program, keep improving Gluten Free Jess, and take more time to enjoy the people in my life.
What do you aspire to learn this year?
I want to continue to learn about gluten free cooking and baking. I also want to continue to learn things that help me to be a better teacher.
What is your most favorite book? Why?
I have never really been out of college since I became a teacher. I hate to admit that I have barely done any reading that wasn’t academic for a long time. I LOVE cookbooks though. I just keep collecting more.
What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?
The stories are too confidential to share on my blog, but it has to do with speaking up for the needs and rights of students that I have worked with over the years.
If you can be a superhero, what is your super power?
Is there a super power that helps you be good at anything without having to practice? I am so impatient…
Who is your female role model?
I am blessed to have a lot of wonderful females in my life! They all influence me in different ways.
I really look up to my mom. She didn’t have an easy start in life and went on to do a lot of learning things the hard way, but she managed to find calm and happiness in her life despite all of that. The older I get, the more I appreciate and understand her and I am so thankful for the relationship that we have. She is a huge influence and inspiration in my cooking as well.
