Castillo de Piñar Tomato Sauces – A Review
Over the last few months you have likely seen reference to a company called Castillo de Piñar in some of my posts. They make the most delicious Spanish olive oil. I love their infused balsamic reductions! I am excited to tell you about another product they make! Castillo de Piñar also makes 2 varieties of tomato sauce that I have been able to try and cook with recently in several different dishes.
The Sofrito sauce is made with garlic, onions, red pear tomatoes, and Castillo de Piñar olive oil. This sauce is sweet, full of tomato flavor, and has no acidic taste because it is just pure ingredients…no additives.
The Fritada sauce is made from the base of the Sofrito sauce and then red and green bell peppers are added for extra flavor.
Both sauces are incredibly versatile because they are made with pure ingredients. My favorite way to use either sauce is on pizza. Traditional store-bought pizza sauces have too much seasoning for me. This is just delicious, slightly sweet tomato flavor that compliments any pizza toppings.
You could also use Castillo de Piñar sauces to top my Crunchy Zucchini Pizza Bites.
Or my Cheesy Spaghetti Squash Bake.
Or even use it in lasagna.
If you try Castillo de Piñar let me know what you think!!
You won’t be hearing much from me for the rest of the weekend because I am off to a cabin on the North Shore.
Have a wonderful weekend!
