Gluten Free Jess’s Pregnancy Faves
Hello Everyone! This post is a little different than what you are used to seeing on Gluten Free Jess! As I transition into adding mama to one of my roles in life I plan to bring a wider variety of posts to all of you! Of course, gluten free recipes will continue to be my focus, but it is fun to talk about other lifestyle, parenting, and health topics with all of you! To start, I thought I would share some of my favorite things that got me through this pregnancy!
Nalgene Water Bottle – I swear I have barely left the house without this thing! I usually bring a water bottle with me anyway, but when you are pregnant hydration is SO important. La Croix Coconut – Speaking of staying hydrated…all that water can get a little boring. I am obsessed with La Croix. The sparkling water has no sodium or sweeteners. Just water with a little natural flavor. Learn more about where to buy La Croix here.
Honest Company Belly Balm – When we get into the not-so-glamorous parts of pregnancy I think a good belly balm is a must! Everyone’s body is different and stretch marks rely on a number of factors, but I used this balm religiously throughout my pregnancy and barely have a mark…worth it! The SHIT No One Tells You: A Guide to Surviving Your Baby’s First Year – If you want a laugh out loud, easy read this book is excellent. I started it towards the end of my pregnancy. This book is like a memoir/life guide about the ups and downs of pregnancy and being a new parent. The author, Dawn Dais, reminds us that having a baby isn’t all cute and glamorous…and that is perfectly ok! Love this book! The Belly Book Journal – I started this journal when I found out I was pregnant. There is a spot to put a picture of your belly each week…I have been terrible about that! I only took a few over my whole pregnancy and have yet to print any out and actually put them in here, but the journal has a place to write about all of your appointments, ultrasounds, and each week of pregnancy. Your Pregnancy Week by Week – If you want a basic, non-overwhelming guide to pregnancy I think this is a great book! Each chapter goes through the week of pregnancy you are on and tells you about what is going on with your body as well as how the baby is growing and changing. I also liked The Bump and What to Expect apps on my phone for quick info and updates on the remarkable growth of the baby! Beyond the Grain Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix – If I don’t have a craving for something salty, I want something sweet…and that’s not just when I am pregnant. As I started working on meal prep for when the baby is here I made a ton of batches of my favorite gluten free cookies and froze them to have some quick treats on hand. Dunn Brothers – I just have to say Dunn Brothers saved my life while I was avoiding caffeine! Yes…most coffee places can make decaf drinks and they always have decaf black coffee, but I am a cold press/iced coffee girl. Dunn Brothers always had decaf cold press or could make a half caf drink when I was desperate for some energy! This will definitely be a go-to place for me when I am breastfeeding too so I am not hopping the babe up on caffeine.
Fit Bit Charge HR – I never knew how tired being pregnant could actually make you! I feel like my FitBit helped keep me motivated and reminded me to get moving throughout the day, even if I was tired. Regrettably, I haven’t kept up a good exercise routine during this pregnancy besides walking every day with my pup. The FitBit has helped me stay accountable for at least being moderately active every day which helps keep a healthy blood pressure and reduce some of the swelling that comes with pregnancy. Athletic and Yoga Pants from Old Navy and Motherhood Maternity – The last month or two of being pregnant I find it harder and harder to feel comfortable. Whenever I am at home, I have pretty much lived in maternity athletic and yoga pants. You can find great, affordable options at both Motherhood Maternity and Old Navy.
Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt – Digestion can be a problem during pregnancy. Luckily for me, I didn’t really experience that. I partly credit it to eating tons of fruits and veggies, drinking plenty of water, and eating yogurt every day. It is so good for your gut health. I eat Chobani 0% every day with a little local honey, fresh berries, and some granola.
